Frequently Asked Questions

Booking

Should I book direct or on Airbnb?

It's the same home and the same host either way. Booking direct through our website is 20% cheaper than booking the same home on Airbnb. Booking on Airbnb gives you Airbnb's own payment system and protections. Every home page has a Check dates & book direct button and a Book on Airbnb button, so choose whichever you prefer.

How do I check availability and prices?

Open the home you're interested in and tap Check dates & book direct. You'll see live availability and the exact price for your dates before you pay. You can also compare all five homes first.

What is the cancellation policy?

Cancellation terms depend on your dates and are always shown before you pay, on our direct booking page or at Airbnb checkout. If you'd like to check them before booking, send us a message and we'll walk you through them.

Can I book a long stay?

Yes. Stays of 28 nights or more are welcome, and many guests stay for a week or longer for work, school moves or family visits. Every home has a full kitchen and an in-unit washer and dryer, so longer stays are easy. Message us about monthly stays.

Are there any extra fees?

Your total, including any cleaning fee and taxes, is shown before you pay. Booking direct saves you 20% compared to Airbnb. Optional extras, like a Pack ’n Play or high chair, are available on request for a small fee, and some homes offer mid-stay housekeeping at an extra cost.

Check-in & checkout

What are the check-in and checkout times?

Check-in is after 4:00 PM (until midnight), and checkout is before 10:00 AM.

How does check-in work?

Check-in is self-service. Each home has a keypad or smart lock, and you'll receive your door code and step-by-step arrival instructions before your stay. There are no keys to pick up and no waiting around.

Can I check in early or check out late?

Just ask. We accommodate early check-in and late checkout whenever the cleaning schedule allows. Luggage drop-off is also allowed at most of our homes if you arrive early or leave late.

What should I do before checkout?

Not much. Please leave no dirty dishes in the sink and lock up when you leave. That's it.

How do I reach you during my stay?

Message Ahmed through your booking or call (858) 733-8273. He's a Superhost with a 100% response rate and usually replies within an hour.

The homes

Which home is right for me?

All five are standalone homes in the same gated complex in Grant Hill.

  • Casa Sol: 2 bedrooms, up to 4 guests, 75" smart TV
  • Casa Brisa: 2 bedrooms, up to 4 guests, fastest Wi-Fi (300+ Mbps) and a shared patio
  • Casa Palma: 1 bedroom, up to 3 guests
  • Casa Luna: 1 bedroom, up to 3 guests, a favorite with couples and remote workers
  • Casa Coral: 1 bedroom, up to 3 guests, a sunny dining nook

The 2-bedroom homes have a queen bed and a daybed with a pull-out twin trundle. The 1-bedroom homes have a queen bed plus a sofa that pulls out to a queen bed.

Are the homes really private?

Yes. Each one is a detached house with no shared walls, inside a gated complex with gates at the front and rear. You have the entire home to yourself, and guests regularly mention how quiet and private it feels.

Is there air conditioning?

Yes. Every home has a split AC and heating unit in the living area that keeps it cool on hot days and warm on cool nights. The bedrooms have ceiling or portable fans to move the cool air through. On the hottest days, we recommend keeping the bedroom doors open.

Is the Wi-Fi good enough for remote work?

Yes. Wi-Fi runs at 100+ Mbps in every home (300+ Mbps at Casa Brisa), fast enough for video calls and large uploads. Casa Sol, Brisa, Palma and Luna also have a dedicated workspace.

What's in the kitchen?

Every home has a full kitchen with a 5-burner gas stove and oven, a full-size fridge and freezer, a microwave, a toaster, a kettle, a Keurig coffee maker with complimentary coffee and tea, cooking basics like oil, salt and pepper, and plates and utensils for every guest. There's no dishwasher.

Is there a washer and dryer?

Yes, every home has its own washer and dryer, plus an iron and hangers. There's also a laundromat nearby.

What's provided when I arrive?

Fresh linens and towels, extra pillows and blankets, room-darkening shades, shampoo, body soap, a hair dryer, cleaning products, and complimentary coffee and tea. Casa Sol and Casa Brisa have a bathtub; the 1-bedroom homes have a walk-in shower.

Parking & location

Is parking included?

Yes. Every home comes with one free dedicated parking spot in the alley behind the complex's rear gate (uncovered), and there's free street parking nearby too. The spots fit most cars. If you're bringing a large truck or SUV, let us know and we'll suggest the best place to park.

Where are the homes?

In Grant Hill, one of San Diego's most central neighborhoods. A grocery store and a much-loved taco truck are steps from the complex entrance, and Grant Hill Park is about a 5-minute walk. The exact address is shared after you book.

How far is it to the Zoo, downtown and the airport?

The San Diego Zoo, Balboa Park, the Gaslamp Quarter, Petco Park, the Convention Center and San Diego International Airport are all 5 to 15 minutes away by car.

Do I need a car?

A car is handy, and parking is free, but you can get by without one. The trolley is about a 10-minute walk, and rideshares to downtown are short and inexpensive.

Families & pets

Are the homes family-friendly?

Yes, families stay with us all the time. A Pack ’n Play and high chair are available on request for a small fee. Casa Palma has a crib, and a baby bath is available at Casa Brisa and Casa Palma. Just let us know what you need when you book.

Are pets allowed?

Sorry, no pets. Service animals are always welcome.

House rules & safety

What are the house rules?
  • No smoking or vaping
  • No parties or events
  • Quiet hours from 10 PM
  • No more than the listed number of guests (4 at Sol and Brisa, 3 at Palma, Luna and Coral)
  • No commercial photography or filming
  • Please flush only toilet paper (a bin is provided for everything else)
Are there security cameras?

Only outside, at the complex's front and rear gates and common areas such as the parking area. There are never any cameras inside the homes.

What safety features do the homes have?

Every home has a smoke alarm, a carbon monoxide alarm, a fire extinguisher and a first aid kit, and the complex is gated front and rear.
